I have been interested in health and wellbeing from a very early age.
This interest led me to study with the Melbourne College of Natural Medicine in Australia.
I undertook a four-year full-time degree (Bachelor of Health Science (acupuncture) in 2002 where I graduated top of my class and received awards from the Australian Acupuncture Chinese Medicine Association. I also completed studies in Moxibustion, Cupping, Tui na, Food as Medicine and Chinese Herbal Medicine. While there, I lectured on the benefits of acupuncture for all aspects of fertility and pregnancy to midwives at a hospital in Victoria and I have also administered acupuncture in a maternity hospital in Melbourne to assist with pain management during labour. After working in a holistic multi-disciplinary clinic, hospital, and community settings,I returned to Ireland and I have been an accredited practitioner with the Irish Acupuncture Registration Board since 2007. Currently I am furthering my studies and undertaking a degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy in Dublin.
I have always been drawn to working with clients who experience difficulties in conceiving. I have witnessed both the agony and ecstasy on this journey to parenthood. I feel privileged to be able to work as I do and am inspired daily by being able to make a difference. Despite the popularity of Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are fewer therapists who combine this, holistically as I do, with counselling/psychotherapy. In my life I have experienced positive, and challenging times, all of which has given me the wisdom, sensitivity, compassion, and experience to treat those I see today.
I also believe acupuncture has a profound effect on assisting clients with stress and emotional blockages. Acupuncture by moving Qi can bring clarity to the mind, assist with stress reduction, and remove blockages. In Traditional Chinese Medicine there is a saying.
“Where there is pain there is no free flow, Where there is free flow there is no pain”.
This wise saying holds true for all pain be it physical or emotional.
My mission is to help my clients to enrich their lives in all areas of health. I am constantly updating my skills and improving my understanding of what it is to be human. I believe I will be, forever, a student of life, concerned less with judgements, and more with the ability to be present with clients on their journey to realising and unlocking their true potential.
